“Distraction is the learning scourge.” (JiK)
This site is about WKBooks (Web Key Kooks), which we can define as digital and interactive books and manuals designed to make the learning process simple, short, effective, and anti-distractions, especially in scientific and technical disciplines.
This solution solves the rigidity of the PDF format and the limitations of EPUB. It takes full advantage of the flexibility of HTML and the power of $LaTeX$. It is a solution based entirely on web technology and, therefore, works both online and locally. Furthermore, it is free and open source.
KBook
A KBook is short for "Key Book" and it is both a book and a manual that covers a single topic comprehensively within 250 A5-sized pages. In addition to being a finished product, a KBook is also a way of conceiving, organizing, and presenting knowledge in an essential yet comprehensive manner on a specific and single subject. In other words, a KBook is an independent "knowledge entity" that can be used alone or as part of a series. Think of a KBook as a poem or a musical piece, but with cognitive or practical purposes, often both.
The KBook format rich in formulas and graphics is usually PDF, written in $LaTeX$ according to Amazon standards for printing on paper. KBooks with fewer formulae and graphics, as well as a PDF version, there is also an EPUB version according to Amazon KDP standards.
WKBook
A WKBook (Web Key Book) is a compact, dynamic, self-contained, and portable website that contains the same content as the related KBook. However, the WKBook is developed entirely with web technology. The content is made interactive through embedded applications written in JavaScript and Lua. This means that the hypertext content is accompanied by integrated applications that can perform specific tasks, online or offline, such as numerical calculations, graphics, and animations.
WKBooks is an excellent solution for creating scientific and technical publications for both online and offline use. It is suitable for degree theses of any complexity, featuring numerous mathematical formulas, advanced graphics, interactive courses, and various illustrations without specific limitations. To access the contents of WKBooks and interact with the applications, all you need is a web browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge), which is practically available on all computers, smartphones, and tablets.
✪ VERY IMOPRTANT!
To use WKBooks locally, you need to have Tanit Platform installed on your computer or on a flash disk.
